- Mendelssohn’s overture Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage, in which the sombre mood of sailors becalmed at sea gives way to excitement as the breeze picks up and the sails fill
- Weber’s breathtaking Concertino, for which Ewan Hudson, a regular member of our horn section and one of the younger players in the Orchestra, will be the soloist
- Schubert’s Symphony No.3, ensuring that we keep up the momentum!
Harry Lai: Conductor
Anne Heaton: Leader

Thanks to a generous legacy from a former member of the orchestra – Dorothy Wrathall, who played the violin with us for many years – admission to these two concerts is FREE! Donations will be welcome, and these will be split between the Orchestra and Jessie’s Fund: jessiesfund.org.uk
This is a charity established in 1995 in York to help children with serious illness, complex needs, and communication difficulties through the therapeutic use of music.
A Post-Concert “Thank You for Joining Us”
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Concert Series 2025 in Settle and Skipton. It was a joy to share two wonderful evenings of live music with such appreciative audiences.
Special thanks to Ewan Hudson for his dazzling performance of Weber’s Horn Concertino – a true highlight of the programme. This concert also marked a fond farewell to our Resident Conductor for the year, Harry Lai, who graduates from the Royal Northern College of Music this summer. As Harry shared in his welcome speech, “There is simply nothing quite like a live music performance.” We couldn’t agree more – and we thank him for a fantastic year of music-making.
🎶 Audience attendance:
• 125 in Settle on 21st June
• 110 in Skipton on 28th June
🎟️ Funds raised through donations and raffles:
• £820 in Settle
• £770 in Skipton
Thanks to your generosity, we’re delighted to be donating £800 to Jessie’s Fund, supporting music therapy for children with complex needs.

Looking Ahead to Autumn 2025
